Loaded with Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box, the Lumia 530 brings the
goods, such as the new Action Center, Word Flow, personalized Start
Screen background, HERE Maps, and who can forget, Cortana.
Powering all this goodness is a tidy quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 CPU. There is 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage, the latter of which can be expanded via microSD card up to 128GB. To make use of all that space, you can install and run apps off the card, and there is a 5MP main camera. While there is no front facing camera, you can use voice commands to take selfies with the main camera using the GlamMe app, and then you can edit them up with Creative Studio. Like the previous entry-level Lumias, you can personalize your 530 with different colored back plates and flip shells to suit your mood or sense of fashion. The Lumia 530 is a 3G smartphone, so data speeds will peak at about 21Mbps on an HSPA network. Of course, there is Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and Wi-Fi connectivity all baked in. The display is a 4-inch, 854x480 resolution LCD. Like the Lumia 630/635, this new Windows Phone also makes due with on-screen navigation buttons, and no dedicated shutter key for the camera.
The Lumia 530 and Lumia 530 Dual SIM will start at about €85 before VAT ($114, £67), and should not cost more than €100 ($135, £79) on the high-end. The Lumia 530 will be sold globally, and will be available beginning in select markets in August. Considering how successful the Lumia 520 was, it looks like Nokia did not spoil the recipe one bit.
