Sony has promotions planned to kick off Sony Xperia Z1 Compact launch in Europe
Sony has high hopes for the bite-sized mini version of its Sony Xperia Z1 flagship. Known as the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, the phone recently soared to the top of smartphone sales charts in Japan
after an exclusive version for Docomo was launched. The Xperia Z1
Compact has a smaller 4.3 inch panel with resolution of 720 x 1280
versus the 5 inch 1080 x 1920 resolution screen on the larger phone.
Despite this, comparisons between the two screens seem to favor the smaller glass on the Xperia Z1 Compact which has better viewing angles and color representation.
The lower capacity 2300mAh battery on the Xperia Z1 Compact has been
shown in tests to outlast the larger 3000mAh cell on the Xperia Z1.
Keeping all of this in mind, it is no wonder that many are more pumped
about the smaller model than the full-sized unit. In Japan, the Sony
Xperia Z1 Compact is more popular in Japan than the Apple iPhone 5s. In other words, this is more like a flagship phone than any other mini version ever made.
With the phone set to launch in Europe, here are the various
off-contract deals for the Xperia Z1 Compact. In France, the phone will
be €499 ($679 USD) after a €50 ($68 USD) refund. In Germany and in
Italy, the handset will cost you €499 ($679 USD) bundled with the Sony
Wireless Headset DR-BTN200M for those who pre-order the phone. The headset will cost an extra €1.
In the Netherlands, there is no promotion and the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact
is priced at €549 ($747 USD). That is the same price for the phone in
Spain, although for €1, you can add the Sony Wireless
Headset DR-BTN200M. In Poland, you can order the phone for 1999 PLN
($650 USD) and add the DR-BTN200M headset for 1 PLN. The price in Sweden
is 4695 SWK ($717 USD) which also includes the opportunity
to add the headset for 1 SWK. Lastly, in the U.K., the Xperia Z1
Compact is 449 GBP ($740 USD) which includes a Sony Smartwatch 2 for
free to those who pre-order the phone.
