Start your download engines, iOS developers, because Apple just released another beta of iOS 7.1. This latest release is iOS 7.1 beta 5 and is coming out just a little over two weeks after the previous beta update. Just as with all of the other iOS 7.1 betas that've been pushed out so far, iOS 7.1 beta 5 is compatible with the iPad Air, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad mini with Retina display, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and fifth-generation iPod touch.
Apple doesn't have a set number of beta updates that it releases before rolling out the final product to consumers, so there's no way to tell how close we're getting to the public release of iOS 7.1. A recent rumor suggested that the update could be pushed sometime in March 2014, and while that's still very much unconfirmed at this point, it's looking increasingly possible now that we've entered February and just got the fifth iOS 7.1 beta update.
Because the iOS 7.1 beta 5 update just began rolling, there's no word yet on what changes Apple has thrown in from the previous update. Details of the beta release tweaks typically leak out shortly after the update itself is made available, though, so stay tuned and I'll give you a shout once more information trickles out.
UPDATE: According to 9to5Mac, the iOS 7.1 beta 5 update includes "new, natural-sounding Siri voices" for Australian English, United Kingdom English, Japanese and Mandarin Chinese. The update is also said to include refreshed Shift and Caps Lock keys, which can be seen below.
