When Google announced Android Wear last month, Motorola was ready right out of the gate to share tons of info about its Moto 360. While LG also went public with news of its own smartwatch, the G Watch, at the same time, it didn’t have quite so much to show us. However, in the weeks that followed additional info has trickled out, including both new official pics and some hands-on shots of actual G Watch hardware. Now, LG is unleashing a new torrent of G Watch images, including the first pics of an alternate color version.
Besides the all black G Watch we’ve seen thus far, LG will also release a gold (or champagne, if you’re feeling thirsty) G Watch. There’s still a black bezel around the screen, but the watch’s body picks up a new gold hue along its edges, a white back, and pairs with a white strap. The three-tone coloring we end up with is unusual, sure, but it actually looks pretty decent in these new pics – say what you will about the rising popularity of gold on smartphones, but it’s hard to argue that gold on a watch isn’t already par for the course.
Besides sharing pics of this new color option, LG talks about G Watch features like dust- and waterproofing, as well as its always-on display.
