Revolution, the Android and Firefox OS-running handset
from Spain's Geeksphone, is officially on sale in the company's
web-shop. The phone costs about $300 (221 EUR, 182 GBP) pre-tax.
Worldwide shipping is available, and there is a calculator on checkout
that provides pricing and delivery information.
Currently, only the phone is on sale. Accessories for it will be added sometime in the future.
The Revolution features Geeksphone's proprietary MultiOS technology, a
"1-click system" for alternating between operating systems. The phone
runs Android by default, but the user can "seamlessly" switch to Firefox
OS or an alternative via a "user-friendly graphical interface".
The handset is not restricted to running only Mozilla's mobile platform
alongside Google's. While we're yet to see whether the phone will live
up to its revolutionary name, the potential is definitely there.
